Wholesome Vegetarian Cooking

  • Chocolate Cake Base

    Makes: 1 cake base

    3⁄4 cup brown rice flour
    1⁄4 cup cane sugar
    3 tablespoons cocoa powder
    1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
    1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
    1⁄2 teaspoon guar gum
    1⁄2 teaspoon salt

    1⁄3 cup sunflower oil
    1 1⁄4 cups soy milk
    1 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
    1 1⁄2 teaspoon lemon juice

    Mix the dry ingredients. Mix the wet ingredients. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and stir thoroughly. Pour into a 9” round cake pan.

    Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes. Allow to cool in pan.
