Split Pea Soup

Serves: 5

5 cups water
2 cups onions (diced)
1/2 cup carrots (sliced)
2 1/2 cups leeks (sliced)
1/2 cup potatoes (cubed)
1 piece kombu
1 small garlic clove (minced)

1 1/3 cups split peas

1 teaspoon salt
A pinch of pepper
A pinch of thyme

Bring water and veggies to a boil, add the split peas and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add the seasonings and serve.

This one should get an award it is that tasty.
