Artisan Vegan Products
Traditionally made with local and nutritious ingredients
We are proud to make our very own specialty vegan foods and products for you to cook with at home. We use them in our dishes at the restaurant, too! We have our very own production facility right in Victoria where we make our tofu and tempeh using organic soybeans from Canadian farmers, as well as other delicious products like mochi, kombucha, miso and sauerkraut. We use local and organic ingredients whenever possible, and always craft our food and beverages using traditional methods. You can find our products in Green Cuisine Vegetarian Restaurant’s refrigerator located in Market Square, Downtown Victoria BC, or at your local grocery store.
Don’t be shy! Eat more soy!
STRONGLY SUPPORTED BY MODERN RESEARCH
Soy foods such as tofu, tempeh, edamame, and soy milk have been part of traditional diets for centuries and are now strongly supported by modern research for their health benefits. Despite persistent myths, studies show that soy does not increase estrogen levels, cause “feminizing” effects in men, or raise breast cancer risk. Instead, soy contains plant compounds called isoflavones, a type of phytoestrogen that interacts with estrogen receptors in a much weaker way and can even block stronger estrogen effects.
Research across many large studies shows that regular soy consumption is associated with lower breast cancer risk, improved survival and reduced recurrence among breast cancer patients, better heart health through lowering LDL cholesterol, improved blood vessel health, and reduced inflammation. Soy may also help reduce menopausal hot flashes, support cognitive function, and slow bone loss, particularly in postmenopausal women.
In addition to these health benefits, soy foods are nutritional powerhouses, providing complete plant protein with all nine essential amino acids, along with healthy fats, fiber, iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and B vitamins.
Overall, the evidence shows that soy is safe, nutrient-dense, and beneficial for long-term health, making it an easy and versatile ingredient to include in everyday meals.
